Working Groups

 

MYREN Research Community comprises of leading researches from various organizations in Malaysia. The community aims to promote formalization of research projects in accordance to specific focus area.


There are currently 10 Research Areas (RA) established under MYREN including Network & Distributed Systems, Management Science & Technology, IPv6, Internet Security, E-Research, Multimedia Applications and Knowledge Management and Information Retrieval, Telemedicine, Green Technology, E-Culture & Heritage and Visual Informatics (VI). Each RA is chaired by an appointed area director.

Objective:

To address issues for nationwide implementation of IPv6, including address allocation as well as to carry out IPv6 Awareness and Activities among MYREN  members

 

Internet Security Working Group

Objective : 

  1. Design security technologies based on the principles of good human-computer interaction so as to maximize user compliance.
  2. Develop metrics for security.
  3. Design curricula and outreach programs for university education that will ensure the future workforce has an awareness of—and respect for—security.
  4. Address market and regulatory impediments.
  5. Ensure that security is built into products and processes.
  6. Develop national and international doctrines for internet security.
  7. Ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of real-time data generated by process control systems.
  8. Identify the origin and history of input data and of physical components so their trustworthiness in and untrustworthy environment can be assessed.
  9. Apply well known social-science protocols to the development of an effective security culture.
  10. Support the creation and implementation of motivation-based strategies for the prevention and remediation of human-induced error (including misuse and malicious use).

Objective :


To promote research of importance to the evolution of the Internet by creating and conducting focused research on topics related to Internet protocols, applications, architecture and technology.

 

To foster and support the vision of ISOC InterNetWorks initiatives in ensuring that the Internet continues to perform with the reliability and growth that are its hallmarks—enabling end users worldwide to utilize the Internet for essential tasks that they freely choose

Visual Informatics (VI)

Objective

a. Enable researchers, academics and professionals in the area of Visual Informatics

    to share their research findings with other researchers locally and globally.
b. To plan, organise and conduct successful meetings to discuss issues in the area

    of visual informatics.
c. Enable researchers to expand their research, education and social networks.
d. Allow research groups from the different universities locally and globally to create

   linkages  to share and conduct collaborative research that can  enhance and 

   enrich the groups mutually.
e. Conduct collaborative research through the attainment of substantial grants

    nationally and internationally in order to enhance the lives of the community.   
f.  Allow researchers with similar interest groups to solve theoretical, technical,  and

   development  problems more efficiently.
g. Enable researchers from universities, research institutions and industries to write

    papers collaboratively in top impact journals

Procedures to Form a Working Group

 

Stage 1 :  Form a Sub Working Group under any of the related or closest Working Group for 3 months

Stage 2 : Write a proposal to the secretariat stating your intention to be a Working Group with the below format

 

                 1.0 INTRODUCTION

 

                 2.0 OBJECTIVES

 

                 3.0 JUSTIFICATION FOR NEW MYREN RESEARCH AREA (Includes the benefits to MYREN  

                      Community)

 

                 4.0 CURRENT RESEARCH CONDUCTED IN THE AREA OF <RESEARCH AREA>  (Working Groups

                       if any and whose heading it)

 

Stage 3: Commitee will sit in to evaluate the proposal and will notify the working group in 7 working days.
